Cookies and Subscriber Login Help

The basic Scrabble Solver works without optional advertising cookies. Subscriber access is different: an essential first-party cookie is absolutely necessary for you to log in and remain logged in.

Test this browser

The test writes, reads and removes two tiny first-party test cookies and one local-storage item. It also checks whether a subscriber login cookie is present, without displaying its value. It does not inspect your browsing history, test advertising cookies or reveal any account details.

What can block or remove cookies?

A browser may report that cookies are enabled while still blocking them for one particular site. Settings can also allow a cookie initially and then delete it when the browser closes. If subscriber login is failing, please check all of the following rather than relying only on the browser's main cookie switch:

  • Browser privacy settings can block all cookies, block site data for Scrabble Solver, or contain a site-specific exception left over from an earlier choice.
  • Browser extensions and add-ons can override ordinary browser settings. Privacy extensions, script blockers, cookie managers and automatic cleaning tools are common causes.
  • Ad blockers and content blockers sometimes block more than ads. Depending on their filters and settings, they can also interfere with first-party cookies, local storage, scripts or the request used to confirm a subscription.
  • Antivirus, firewall and internet-security software may include web protection, anti-tracking, cookie cleaning or browser extensions of its own. These controls can continue to block or clear cookies even after the browser itself has been configured correctly.

  • Managed devices supplied by an employer, school or another organization may enforce a cookie policy that you cannot change yourself.

If the test fails

  1. Allow cookies and site data for scrabble-solver.com in your browser settings, then reload this page and run the test again.
  2. Check every extension, add-on, ad blocker, content blocker and privacy tool. Temporarily pause it for this site as a diagnostic test, or add Scrabble Solver to its allowlist. You should not need to disable your protection everywhere.
  3. Check antivirus or internet-security software separately. Its browser or web-protection component may be responsible even when every browser extension appears to be off.
  4. Try a normal window in another browser, or a clean browser profile with no added extensions. If that works, the original browser or one of its add-ons is blocking or clearing the storage.
  5. If cookies pass but login still fails, clear the existing site data for Scrabble Solver, reload the site, and log in again. Clearing site data will sign you out and remove saved site preferences, so use this as a later step rather than the first one.

Cookies and local storage are different

A cookie is a small piece of site data that can be sent with a web request. Scrabble Solver's essential login cookie allows the site and its registration service to recognize a logged-in subscriber. Local storage stays in the browser and is used for site state and preferences, including solver settings. It is not a cookie, but blocking it can still stop parts of the site from working reliably.
