Who We Are

Scrabble Solver, referred to as "we", "us" and "our" in this policy, is the controller and responsible for your personal data. As part of our business, we may process information about you.

Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the site.

Using the Website and Solver Tools

When you visit the site, our systems and service providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, approximate country or region, browser and device type, operating system, requested page, referring page, date and time, and information about errors or security events.

The letters, patterns and other solver settings you enter are sent to our services so that we can return matching words. Some of this information is also saved in your browser's local storage so that the site can remember your recent input and preferences. It is not intended to identify you.

If a technical error occurs, the site may send us diagnostic information about the error, the page, your browser and device, your approximate location, and relevant Scrabble Solver cookie or local-storage data. We use this information to investigate faults, prevent abuse and improve reliability.

Subscriber Accounts

If you register for Scrabble Solver Pro, we collect:

• your first and last name;
• your email address;
• your password, which is protected using one-way hashing in the account database;
• account, customer and subscription reference numbers;
• subscription status and expiry information;
• your approximate location or country, IP address, browser and device information, and the page or source from which registration began; and
• login, logout and account-use records used to operate and protect the subscription service.

We create account and subscription references when you continue to payment. This means that limited registration records may exist even if you do not complete the Stripe checkout.

You must provide the required registration information if you want to create an account or subscription. Without it, we cannot provide or authenticate subscriber access.

Payments

Subscription payments are processed on a Stripe-hosted checkout page. Stripe collects and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. Scrabble Solver receives information needed to confirm and manage your subscription, such as your email address, transaction or subscription reference, payment status and relevant transaction dates. Scrabble Solver does not receive or store your full payment-card number.

Contacting Us

If you email us or use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, message and any other information you choose to provide. Our web delivery and security systems may also process ordinary request information such as your IP address, browser details, requested page, and the date and time. The contact form does not attach your Scrabble Solver cookies, local-storage values or solver entries to the message.

The contact form uses an essential first-party antiforgery cookie, a protected form-start token, a hidden spam-trap field and request-rate limiting to protect the form from forged or automated submissions. Your IP address is used temporarily to apply the rate limit. The form does not require Google reCAPTCHA and sends your message directly through Scrabble Solver rather than through a separate API.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

• provide the website, word solvers and requested results;
• remember site settings and maintain essential browser state;
• create, authenticate and manage subscriber accounts;
• process subscriptions and confirm payments;
• provide customer support and respond to messages;
• send service emails, including payment confirmations and password-reset messages;
• protect the site, accounts and payment process from spam, fraud, misuse and security threats;
• diagnose faults, monitor performance and improve the site; and
• measure audiences, fund the free service through advertising, and assess advertising performance where permitted.

Scrabble Solver does not conduct direct marketing. We do not use subscriber or contact details to send promotional emails or other marketing messages.

Our Legal Bases

Where UK or European data-protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Contract: to create and operate subscriber accounts, process subscriptions and provide services you request.
• Legal obligation: to keep records or disclose information where tax, accounting, consumer-protection or other laws require it.
• Legitimate interests: to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the site; prevent fraud and abuse; respond to enquiries; and support the advertising-funded service. We consider the effect on visitors before relying on these interests.
• Consent: for non-essential cookies, local storage, personalized advertising or analytics where consent is required. You can withdraw this consent through the privacy or consent settings in the site footer.

We do not use your information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Cookies and Local Storage

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser and sent with website requests. Local storage is a separate browser feature that keeps information on your device.

Scrabble Solver uses first-party cookies and local storage for purposes including security, subscriber login, site preferences, solver settings, consent choices and service operation. The contact form uses the strictly necessary ss_ANTIFORGERY first-party cookie to help verify that a submission came from a form served by this website. The basic solver remains available if you reject optional advertising and analytics cookies. Subscriber login is different: an essential first-party login cookie is required so that the site can recognize a subscriber and maintain access to Scrabble Solver Pro.

Advertising, analytics and consent providers may also use cookies or similar technologies, subject to applicable law and your choices. You can review or change these choices through the privacy or consent link in the footer. The wording of that link may vary by country or region.

Advertising

Advertising supports the free version of Scrabble Solver. Freestar manages advertising on the site and works with advertising technology providers and advertisers.

Depending on your location, consent choices and browser settings, advertising providers may receive or use information such as your IP address, device and browser details, online identifiers, pages viewed, approximate location, and information about advertisements shown or selected. This may be used to deliver ads, limit repetition, prevent fraud, measure performance and, where permitted, personalize advertising.

We do not use subscriber account details or contact-form content to personalize advertising. You can review the current advertising vendors, purposes and available controls through the privacy or consent settings in the site footer. You can also read Freestar's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some privacy laws use broader definitions of "sale", "sharing" or "targeted advertising" for certain advertising technology. Where applicable, you can use the footer privacy controls to opt out of those activities.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand matters such as which pages are visited, how visitors use the site, what types of devices and browsers they use, and whether the site is working effectively. Google Analytics may receive page, interaction, device, browser, approximate-location and online-identifier information, depending on our configuration, applicable law and your consent choices.

We use this information in aggregated reports to maintain and improve the site. We do not send your name, contact-form message or account email address to Google Analytics.

reCAPTCHA

Google reCAPTCHA is used on registration, login and password-recovery forms to distinguish genuine users from automated abuse. It is not used by the contact form. Google may process your IP address, browser and device information, page interactions, cookies and other signals needed to provide this security service. Who We Share Information With

We share information only when needed for the purposes described in this policy, including with:

• providers that host, deliver, secure and maintain the website, APIs, databases and content-delivery services;
• Freestar and participating advertising providers;
• Google for analytics, advertising services and reCAPTCHA;
• Stripe for subscription payment processing;
• email-delivery providers for contact, support, payment and account messages;
• professional advisers, insurers, auditors or prospective purchasers where reasonably necessary; and
• courts, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or other parties when required by law or needed to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

These organizations may act as our processors, independent controllers, or both, depending on the service and circumstances. Their own privacy notices explain processing for which they are independently responsible.

International Transfers

Scrabble Solver, our service providers, advertising partners and technical systems operate in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and other countries. Information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live.

Where data-protection law requires it, international transfers are protected by a recognized legal mechanism, such as an adequacy regulation or approved contractual safeguards. You may contact us if you would like more information about safeguards relevant to your information.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including:

• account and subscription information while an account is active and afterwards where required for payment records, tax, accounting, disputes, fraud prevention or legal obligations;
• contact correspondence for as long as needed to answer the enquiry, provide support and keep an appropriate record of the outcome;
• login, security and diagnostic records for as long as needed to investigate faults, protect the service and prevent repeated abuse; and
• consent, analytics and advertising information according to the applicable settings and provider retention periods.

Information stored locally in your browser remains there until it expires, is replaced, or is removed by you, your browser or another tool. Our service providers may retain information under their own policies and legal obligations.

When information is no longer required, we delete it, anonymize it, or restrict its use where immediate deletion is not possible, such as in protected backups.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. These include encrypted connections, access controls, security monitoring and protected account credentials. No website or method of storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for choosing a strong, unique password and keeping it confidential. If you believe your Scrabble Solver account has been misused, contact us promptly.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have the right to:

• ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you;
• correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
• ask us to delete information;
• restrict or object to particular uses;
• receive certain information in a portable format;
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal; and

To make a request, email contact@scrabble-solver.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions, and we may need to retain certain records despite a deletion request.

Your Right to Object

Where UK or European law applies, you may object to processing based on our legitimate interests, such as operating, securing or troubleshooting the site. Scrabble Solver does not conduct direct marketing and does not use subscriber or contact details to send promotional messages.

If you are in the United Kingdom, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first, but contacting us does not affect your right to complain to the ICO or another appropriate regulator.

United States Privacy Choices

Residents of some US states may have additional rights, which can include access, correction, deletion, a portable copy, and the ability to opt out of targeted advertising or activities defined as selling or sharing personal information. These rights depend on your state and whether its law applies.

Use the privacy settings in the site footer for advertising choices, or email us to make another privacy request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. If applicable law gives you a right to appeal our response, you may do so by replying to our decision.

Third-Party Websites

The site contains links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, and this policy does not apply once you leave Scrabble Solver. Please read the privacy information provided by the site you visit.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the site, our providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide any additional notice required by law.
